Father's Day

Since before we got married I have told Justin about this photo I saw in a magazine. They had used different structures, buildings, etc. that looked like letters to spell words. I had told him I wanted to do our name but never took the time to do it. So two years later...here it is. I made it a 5x30 picture and (with my Dad's help) we built a custom made frame and stained it to match our new woodwork. After scoping out the prices of odd ball frames like that, I decided this would be much easier and cheaper. As far as I heard, Justin liked it. (especially after he heard our "we-had-to-use-an-18th-century-hand-saw-that-fastened-to-the-table-and-didn't-cut-straight-so-we-had-to-run-across-town-to-Larry's-work-house-to-use-a-real-electric-saw-then-go-back-and-assemble-with-a-broken-nail-gun-that-shot-3-nails-through-the-top-so-we-had-to-cut-them-out-which-led-to-pulling-out-some-wood-so-we-had-to-feel-in-some-pieces-and-sand-down-the-edges-then-had-to-call-cousin-Michelle-to-find-the-stain-in-our-garage-because-I-saw-a-6 foot-mouse(I am pretty sure it was that big)-and-couldn't-go-out-there" story).

I may just buy the frame next time :o)

Yesterday was the first nice day this week. After school, Justin took us to the park. It was gorgeous. We played for awhile and then took Kamalee to a party store for her 1st birthday supplies and a toy store. Today Justin is finished with school at 11 and then we are meeting Lisa and going to the MofA!!!!! A little more shopping and then we are heading back to SD! OH...bright sun!

Minnesota

Our trip to Minneapolis has been pretty good so far. (Justin is going to school, for work) The car ride went well until about the last 45 minutes. Kamalee didn't much want to be in her seat anymore. (more on that later) But overall she did awesome. In the first half hour she fell asleep under her book. Looks a little like her papa joe and grandma bubbles :)Her first morning....she slept great! 11 hours!!!
Towards the end of the ride, Kamalee was determined to fight sleep and get out of that seat. She whined and fussed at everything but loud noises. After Mom and Dad both had headaches from cranking the radio, we found she much enjoyed a 'squeeky' we had got from one of her many hospital visits. Thank you Nurse!!!

Today we had planned to swim and find some things on the internet to do. Well....after lunch with daddy, we came back to a closed pool. What kind of people close the pool??!! And then, I go to blog and my computer will not turn on. Thank you Daddy for making me get a 'smart phone' and I resolved the computer issue after some googling on my blackberry. Who knew you would ever need internet on your phone?

Check Up

Kamalee turned 9 months old yesterday. Isn't it funny how they are so little... I am with her everyday... but it takes 9 months to suddenly realize she is no longer a baby! It's like where did the 9 months go and how did I not notice you growing so fast?? She had her 9 month well baby and they were very impressed. Our doctor only had good things to say and said she doesn't seem to be behind in any areas! Atta girl! She now weighs 16lbs. 3.5 oz and is 25 1/2 inches tall. She was in the 50th percentile for weight and 30th for height. Which is what she has been maintaining so that is awesome. They did her blood test and checked her hemoglobin. (Which I think is the blood test they use to check for unusual amounts of blood cells...as DS kids tend to be at higher risk for leukemia....Kristi or Debbie, is this right?) Anyway...normal is between 10 and 13. Kamalee's was 11.5! Perfect in the middle! WHEW! YAY!

Here is her newest puppy tale picture for 9 months. It has gotten much harder to take these as she wants to get the puppy the whole time.

Her relationship with puppy has now become a Love Hate relationship. She Hates to have him near her. And Loves to tackle, push and yell at him.

Learning New Things

Last night, Kamalee and Justin were rocking together. I looked over and she had the biggest grin so I blew her a kiss. She giggled!!! You are very lucky to get a giggle from our lil girl. She doesn't think too many things are worthy of laughter. For some reason that tickled her funny bone. So I kept doing it and eventually she made the 'kissy' face back at me. So adorable!!!












For about the last month, both OT and PT have been working with Kamalee getting on her hands and knees. She is very stiff and sometimes down right refuses to bend her knees. She has got to the point she straightens out so tight we cant force her to bend them and she just screams! Well I have been working extra hard with her the last couple weeks to work on that. She has come so far in the last two weeks. And here is proof...

Because of her short little arms and legs she is only about 2 inches off of the floor but nonetheless, she is OFF the floor!! Yippie! She isn't quite daring enough to try move but she will tolerate me moving her hands and legs to get to the other side of the room. It won't be long now...... :o)

Catching Up

Silly girl! Kamalee loves hair and thinks it is so fun to sit on her dad's shoulders and eat it!!! Or pull it. That makes momma giggle a bit.
